Most people don't know this, but 40,000 koalas die every year. Also, 80% or 4\5 of koala habitat has been destroyed. Why?

  • Deforestation
  • loss of habitat
  • increased disturbance by humans
  • injury or death from traffic
  • injury or death from dogs and cats
  • effects of garden pesticides getting into waterways
  • increased competition for food and territory because of overcrowding
  • increased stress on animals, making them more susceptible to disease.
This is very sad . What can you do to help?

Welcome to my blog!
My name is Claire. I am 10 years old, and I care deeply about koalas. I have loved koalas ever since I was very little. So you can imagine how sad I was when I found out that koalas population is decreasing. In fact, 40,000 koalas die each year. And 80% of their habitat has been destroyed. Well, how would you feel If a big giant came, and paved a road in through your living room?

On a lighter note - here is a joke:

A koala bear walks into a bar, sits down and orders a BLT sandwich. The koala eats the BLT sandwich, gets up, spins around, pulls a pistol out of his pouch, shoots the piano player, and proceeds to walk out of the bar. The bartender, in shock, shouts to the koala, "Hey, who do you think you are, you ate my sandwich and shot my piano player, and just where do you think you're going!?" The koala replies, "Hey, I'm a koala. Look it up." The frustrated bartender pulls out a dictionary from behind the bar and looks up koala: The dictionary said "n. a marsupial that eats shoots and leaves."
